Toowoomba North State School

Announcing a New Multi-Purpose Hall and Classroom at Toowoomba North State School
We’re proud to announce the completion of a state-of-the-art multi-purpose hall and classroom at Toowoomba North State School. This new space is designed to elevate learning, performances, and community events through robust construction and world-class audio-visual technology. Our project team delivered industry-leading AV solutions tailored specifically to the school’s unique needs.
Hall AV System: A Closer Look
Projection
The hall’s projection system features a powerful Epson EB-PU2216B 16,000-lumen laser projector paired with a massive Screen Technics ElectriCinema 250″ motorized screen. This high-lumen projector was a critical choice, ensuring brilliant and clear visuals even with competing ambient light. Early in the project, we identified that a lower-lumen model would have struggled, and we addressed this by upgrading the design. The installation of the large, 250kg screen was a key logistical challenge that our team successfully overcame.
Control & Processing
A QSC Q-SYS digital signal processor provides unified control for both audio and video systems. A 7″ user control interface touchscreen is conveniently located on stage, allowing for easy control of the projector, input selection, and volume for all audio sources, including wireless microphones.
Audio System
Audio coverage for the multi-purpose hall was planned out in collaboration with Madison AV. Using JBL’s Digital Directivity Analysis software, we precisely mapped the hall’s dimensions to predict and optimize audio coverage. The system features a combination of JBL Application Engineered speakers, two JBL AM5125-95 15″ speakers, two JBL AM5212-95 12″ speakers and two JBL AC18-26 8″ speakers for front-fill. These speakers are powered by Crown CDi DriveCore Multi-channel installation grade amplifiers, ensuring reliable and powerful performance.
Additionally, JBL CRBI ceiling and SLP surface mount speakers provide overflow audio to the hallway, foyer, and bathrooms.
Microphones and Other Audio
The system includes a Shure SLXD4Q quad-channel microphone receiver and an RF Venue Diversity Fin antenna for reliable UHF connectivity. Two Shure SLXD handheld and two Shure SLXD bodypack transmitters fitted with Shure MX153 Headsets can be used simultaneously. Two HDMI inputs were provided in the stage floor boxes, with an auxiliary HDMI and Bluetooth input at the touchscreen location. A ListenIR LT-84 system provides wireless hearing augmentation to the hall seating area.
Multi-Purpose Classroom
The multi-purpose classroom is equipped with an Epson EB-770F ultra short-throw projector featuring 4,100 lumens and 1080p resolution mounted above a grey board. Combined with Kramer Tavor speakers and a Roger Phonak Multimedia Hub, this system provides an accessible audiovisual experience for all students. Teachers have multiple options for connecting their laptops via two HDMI inputs and a Vivi Wireless Display Adapter.
